Winnakee Land Trust and partners present Exploring Our Park at Thompson–Mazzarella Park

Did you know that there is a 76-acre public park by Rhinebeck’s Starr Library?
Come visit it, learn about the diverse habitats in our own backyard, help open a trail, and learn to identify and pull invasive species.

Activities

  • Scavenger hunt! Learn to use a GPS and to read a habitat map, then the hunt will begin. Find the hidden clues.
  • Digital photo contest! Bring your camera and take naturalist shots in the park. The best photos will be displayed at the Starr Library and on the Town’s website.
  • Walk the future trails and help restore habitats. Walk the park’s future trails! Help open the park’s cross-country trail and restore the forested habitat by pulling out invasive plants.
  • Habitats of Rhinebeck. The Town’s and park’s habitat maps will be displayed and interpreted by volunteers.

Meet: At the Starr Library (68 West Market Street, Rhinebeck, 0.3 mile west of village center).

Bring: Warm clothing, rainproof jacket, hiking boots, and snowshoes, your digital camera, and thick
gardening gloves!
