October 18 Celebration at Morton Memorial Library Honors Levi P. Morton Family and Library Benefactors

Morton Memorial Library and Community House will honor Levi P. Morton and his descendants, together with public officials and benefactors who have helped to provide needed building improvements, on Thursday, October 18, 2008, beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Everyone is invited to attend.
 
The event will begin with a ceremony at the Morton Family gravesite at 1:00 p.m. at the Rhinebeck Cemetery on the south side of the village off Route 9 and Mill Road.  Following the ceremony, guests are invited to the Library at 2:15 p.m., where the newly constructed handicapped ramp will be dedicated, and participants will have an opportunity to see the renovation of the Recreation Center and adjacent handicapped restroom, now underway.  Following the building tour, a reception will be held to honor such public officials as New York State Senator Steven M. Saland, Assemblyman Kevin A. Cahill, the Town of Rhinebeck Board and trustees of the Thomas Thompson Trust, all of whom have made the necessary structural improvements to the building possible.
