New York City and Rhinebeck resident Stanley Blum will be reading selected poems from his book “…in search of Stanley” on Friday, September 28, 2007, at 7:30 p.m. at Morton Memorial Library in Rhinecliff. Mr. Blum has been interested in the arts most of his adult life, and has always revered the creative process. He has held careers in business and real estate, but after 9/11, his interest in writing and painting came together in the form of his first book “…in search of Stanley.” In addition to his provocative poems, the book is illustrated with his abstract oil paintings, some of which will be on display in Morton Hall on the evening of the event.

The Town of Rhinebeck Highway Department will hold a “Bike Rodeo” on Saturday, October 20, 2007 at the Highway Department facility located at 119 Rhinecliff Road, Rhinebeck.

The rodeo consists of a skills course, provided by AAA New York, which promotes bike safety for young riders. Riders have the opportunity to test their balancing, maneuvering, weaving and stopping skills. In addition to the skills course, there will be a raffle for a free bike helmet and light refreshments.

Participants must bring their own bikes and helmets and can have them checked by the Rhinebeck Police Department, which will be conducting inspections and giving demonstrations. This is an opportunity to learn the rules of the road in a very hands-on way. Each participant will receive an award certificate.
